Splash into the wonderful world of watercolors this summer as SUNY Potsdam’s Gibson Gallery features works from the Central New York Watercolor Society’s Signature Exhibition from July 10 to August 7. There will be an opening reception on Friday, July 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the gallery. The artists of the Central New York Watercolor Society have been working for more than 25 years to improve their skills and promote the art of watercolor in central New York. The society was formed in February 1982 with 14 charter members from the central New York region. Today, it boasts a membership of more than 180 artists from throughout the United States. It was organized with the assistance of Mario Cooper and his wife, Dale Myers, both past presidents of the American Watercolor Society, as well as Clarence Say and Dan Meyers, past presidents of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society. The Gibson Gallery, located at Brainerd Hall, is free and open to the public Monday and Friday from noon until 4 p.m. during the summer.
