The Financial Aid staff at SUNY Potsdam is committed to providing the best assistance possible to you during your college search process.
Although there are many forms of financial aid available to students, there are four basic types of aid:
Grants are a type of assistance that do not have to be repaid. There are several grants available to eligible students from various sources.
A loan is made when an institution (the government, a bank, etc.) provides a student or student’s parent(s) with money to borrow.
Students awarded this type of aid work on campus in a variety of positions and are paid an hourly wage for the time they work.
At SUNY Potsdam, we offer over $500,000 to new freshmen and transfer students each year through our SUNY Potsdam Scholars Program.
We encourage you to read more about financial aid on the following web site: www.studentaid.ed.gov.
If you have any questions, we're here to help. Call us at (315)267-2162 or stop in 319 Raymond Hall, our office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“Getting a full scholarship was the biggest day of my life… I thought my big brothers were playing a joke on me. My father and I read and re-read the e-mail over and over. It was an awesome day, that’s for sure!”
